Today marks the end of our third full week of school. I cannot believe that October will be upon us in just a few short days! With three weeks under our second grade belts, we are certainly off and running. My kiddos have become such a sweet little family that care about each other and work well together as a group. It has been so nice to see last year's students take our new friends under their wings to help them with Daily 5 and other classroom routines.
Speaking of Daily 5...they have got it down pat! I am so impressed with how hard they are working in their centers while Mrs. Costino and I work with reading groups. Having a second teacher in the room means more Daily 5 rotations and lots more times to see each group. All four of my reading groups were with me two times this week and Mrs. Costino is able to give both of her groups the time that they need once a day. It's pretty awesome!
Check out some Daily 5 in action below.
Kenny and Kaylee practice spelling words by stamping them in playdoh for word work.

On Wednesday this week, we celebrated New Jersey Farm to School week by sampling some harvest soup prepared by our very own teachers that used veggies from our very own garden....picked by our very own Red Bank students! How cool is that?! Our class didn't get a chance to harvest this time, but we will definitely be getting our hands dirty in the garden soon enough. I was really proud of my class for trying at least one spoonful, even if they thought they wouldn't like it. Almost all of my kiddos loved the soup and ate it all up!
Next week, we are trying Kale smoothies!
| Isabella, Carly and Olivia enjoyed the soup. |

I am so lucky to be able to share my days with your awesome kids! They make me smile every day :) Don't forget to scroll down for the blog password. If your kiddo whispers it to me next week, I will give them an extra fuzzy! Make sure they whisper it and don't tell a friend the secret word...they have to read it from the blog on their own ;)
Blog Password: smile
