Mrs. Costino's last day was Friday. We gave her a little cookie party at the end of the day to say good-bye. The kids each made her a card to wish her good luck and to tell her that she will be missed. I meant to take a picture of all of us with Mrs. Costino, but I wasn't very good with my camera last week. She left each kiddo a little treat to take home and gave us a bunch or really cool tie-dye fuzzies to keep in our fuzzy box. She asked the kids to remember her whenever they are given a tie-dye fuzzy to put in their cup! Such a cute idea :)

We were sad to see her leave, but excited to have Mrs. Trombetta begin with us today! She pulled all the kids back one table at a time to chat with them and have a little getting to know you session while they picked new books for their
"Read to Self" book boxes.
Speaking of reading, we are really in the swing of things now! My kiddos are doing an excellent job of moving through our Daily 5 centers quickly and quietly so as no to bother any reading groups that are going on. I am so impressed with how well they are all getting along together and sharing reading and responsibilities during Daily 5.

We have finished up our Fundations Unit 3 last week. The kids had fun playing dice game to read their Fundations words. Please keep practicing all Fundations skills, not just the ones that go with the current unit we are working on. Remember...all you need to know is in your child's BEE binder. We are reviewing all of the skills that we taught in Unit 1 for math. I sent home a pink paper today to remind you of all those skills. Please practice with your kiddo so they feel confident and ready for the test next week :)

We kicked off our "Good Egg" program this week. Mrs. Fair taped an envelope in the front of your child's BEE binder today. When your kiddo is caught being a good egg, he or she will be given a flight ticket. Those tickets need to be signed by a parent and returned to school to put in our collection box. I will pull a ticket once a week for a chance to choose an extra fun coupon reward. Each week, we will dump our box into the big box in the lunch room and twice a month Mr. Cohen will draw a ticket from there for a chance to spin the wheel for a really BIG prize!
